It was so nice to unwind from sightseeing and do something creative, yet educational. Rita was wonderful, patient and talented. She explained the history of tiles in Portugal, as well as taught us the process of tile making and painting. It was a relaxed class with light refreshments, and a nice souvenir- your hand painted tile.

What a fun way to express your artistic side! The instructor was so knowledgeable and even mixed 3 paints together to make an orange color for my tile. She really knows her colors and is able to explain it very very well. Would highly recommend this activity to all!

Tile painting

It was a great activity to do with like minded travellers and if it is raining .You don't need to know how to paint. You pick the pattern you want to paint and trace on the tile. Brush strokes techniques are shown in the class. It was exciting to see everyone's completed tile. Be aware you need to come back after the class e.g. approximately 1.5 hrs to collect the baked tile. So leave enough time in the day for the return visit. This activity is for all ages.

Wonderful! Bea is warm funny & helpful and was engaged with everyone. It was such a comfortable setting and felt relaxing despite having limited artistic experience. She also gave a lot of information about the history of tiles in Portugal! I loved it & my husband who didn’t sign up was welcomed to stay and really enjoyed learning. We are looking forward to having the tile be a unique momento.

We spent 2+ hours learning how to make a hand painted Portuguese ceramic tile. It was a wonderful experience! The class was well organized and small enough that everyone was able to get individual attention and guidance. The gentleman overseeing the class, teaching the process of how to transfer your chosen design to the tile and then paint the tile was extremely patient and a true artist. He gave suggestions when asked and guidance that was much appreciated by everyone. Our tiles came out lovely. We picked them up the next day and we were all extremely make with their appearance. A must do activity, both to learn about tile painting and production and to engage in a project where you can let your artistic self flourish.

We were quite excited as it was our first lesson in tile painting. Our instructor who was very professional in directing the lesson, quickly made us feel relaxed which made it easier for us to follow and to complete our painting. Definitely a worthwhile experience. Highly recommended.

Beatriz gave us a quick speech of the history of tiles and then showed us how to use carbon paper to trace designs onto the tile. the process was easy but of course timely since I wanted it to look good. I must've missed the part that the tile had to be baked for the paint to cure. Luckily they were able to accommodate my schedule and got it baked and ready for me. Don't do what i did and schedule it on your last day in Porto unless you have time to go back and pick up your tile.

Fun and meaningful activity! Fernanda was helpful and gave us some history on tile painting and helped us with colors and designs. She was very accommodating as we were a late addition since our other tile painting experience canceled on us at the last minute!

It was an awesome experience. Don't expect an indepth lesson on tile painting but a fun and loose tile painting experience. The plus for this experience is that the tiles were ready within an hour after the experience. Other experiences you had to come back the next day. Port and snacks were provided. It was a fun experience!

We had a great time with this activity. Bea was a fun instructor and provided some excellent history on the origins of the Portuguese tiles before we began painting. We were given a nice selection of templates we could use and some guidance along the way. I'm no artist but we were both very happy with our finished product and they will make nice souvenirs!
